Funnel Vertical Guide
Building Marketing Funnels with Maniana
Funnel apps let you create multi-step marketing flows—landing pages, signup steps, quizzes, and payment pages—that guide visitors toward a goal. This guide walks you through creating and configuring a funnel manually in the Maniana builder.
What Is a Funnel App?
A funnel app is a linear or branched sequence of steps that users move through one at a time. Each step is a single screen: a landing page, a form, a quiz, a payment page, or a thank-you screen.
- Steps — Individual screens with content, images, and actions (e.g., "Continue", "Sign up", "Pay now")
- Flow — Users advance by completing a step (e.g., submitting a form or clicking a CTA)
- Lead capture — Signup steps save visitor data to your app's storage for follow-up
- Monetization — Payment steps can integrate with Stripe for subscriptions or one-time purchases
Use cases: Lead magnets, product launches, onboarding flows, webinar signups, and paid offers—all built and edited with natural language and the visual builder.
How to Create a Funnel App
You create a funnel by adding a new Funnel application from the Maniana app list and then building it step by step.
Manual creation process
- Create the funnel app — In the Maniana dashboard, create a new application and choose the Funnel vertical (or add a Funnel app to an existing project).
- Open the funnel builder — You'll see the funnel builder with an empty step list and a preview area.
- Add steps — Add steps one by one (e.g., Landing, Signup, Payment, Thank you). Each step gets a name, type, and content.
- Edit step content — Use the AI chat or the step editor to set headlines, body text, images, and buttons for each step.
- Configure CTAs — For each button, choose the action: go to next step, go to a specific step, open a URL, or start Stripe checkout.
- Publish — When ready, publish the funnel to get a live URL (Maniana subdomain or your custom domain).
How to Set a Step in a Funnel
Each step has a type and content. The type helps the system apply the right behavior (e.g., form submission for signup, payment UI for Stripe).
Step types
- Landing — Informational or offer page; CTAs move users to the next step.
- Signup — Form step; user data is saved to your app's storage (e.g., leads collection).
- Payment — Stripe payment step; requires a connected Stripe plan and optional success/cancel steps.
- Confirmation / Thank you — Final screen after signup or payment.
- Custom — Any other step; you control layout and CTAs.
Editing step content
Select the step in the builder, then use the AI prompt or the step editor to set the step's headline, body copy, and structure. You can describe the layout and tone in plain language (e.g., "A simple hero with headline and one CTA button").
Tip: Be specific in your prompts (e.g., "Add a headline and subhead, then a primary CTA button labeled Get Started") so the generated step matches your funnel flow.
Quiz Ability
Any step that contains questions can be turned into a quiz step. The quiz feature adds branching, scoring, or conditional logic based on answers.
Using the quiz builder
- Open the quiz builder — From the step list, click the quiz icon or "Quiz" for the step you want to use as a quiz.
- Define questions — Add questions (multiple choice, single choice, etc.) and, if needed, scoring or branching rules in the quiz panel.
- Generate with AI — Describe the quiz in natural language (e.g., "A 3-question budget quiz that recommends a plan") and the AI will suggest questions and structure.
- Save — Save the quiz; the builder will generate the quiz screen for that step so visitors see the questions and advance based on your flow.
Note: Quiz answers can send visitors to different steps or be stored for use later in the funnel.
Updating Images for Steps
Steps can include images (hero images, logos, product shots). You update them in the step's content.
Ways to set or change images
- AI prompt — In the AI chat, ask to add or replace an image (e.g., "Use a hero image of a team in an office" or "Replace the current image with a product screenshot"). You can upload a reference image in the builder if your project supports it.
- Step editor — In the step editor, use the image or media options to upload a new image or paste an image URL. The preview updates so you can see the result right away.
- Consistency — Use the same style and aspect ratio across steps so the funnel looks cohesive on desktop and mobile.
Setting CTA Buttons
Call-to-action buttons control what happens when a visitor clicks. Each CTA can advance the funnel, open a link, or start checkout.
CTA types
- Next step / Go to step — Moves the user to the next step or a chosen step (e.g., "Thank you" or "Payment").
- External URL — Opens a link in the same or new tab (e.g., calendar booking, help center).
- Redirect — Redirects the user to another URL (e.g., external checkout or thank-you page).
- Stripe checkout — Starts the Stripe payment flow (see below).
Configuring CTAs in the builder
In the funnel builder, select the step and click the button you want to configure. In the CTA panel that appears, choose the action type (e.g., "Go to step", "External URL", "Stripe checkout"). For "Go to step", pick the target step from the dropdown. For Stripe, select the plan and the payment step, and optionally the success and cancel steps. The button will then behave according to your choices when visitors use the funnel.
Integrating Stripe Payments
Funnels can include paid steps using Stripe. Users must complete a signup step before payment so the system can associate the purchase with a lead.
Prerequisites
- Stripe is connected to your Maniana application in the app settings (connect your Stripe account there).
- At least one Stripe plan (e.g., subscription or one-time) is created for the app in the billing/plans section.
- A Signup step appears before the payment step in your funnel so the system has a user to attach the purchase to.
Adding a payment step
- In the funnel builder, add a new step and set its type to Payment in the step settings.
- Use the built-in payment step template—the builder provides a ready-made payment screen with the correct layout and a "Pay" button. You can edit the headline and any text around it in the step editor.
- In the step settings or the CTA that leads to this step, select the Stripe plan this step should use (e.g., your subscription or one-time plan).
Linking a CTA to Stripe checkout
On the step before payment (e.g., a pricing or landing step), add or select a CTA button. In the CTA panel, set the action to Stripe checkout. Then choose the Stripe plan, the payment step (the step where users enter card details), and optionally the success step (e.g., "Thank you") and cancel step (e.g., "Payment cancelled"). When a visitor clicks the button, they are taken to the payment step to complete the purchase; after success or cancel they see the step you configured.
Best practice: Always set a success step (e.g., "Thank you for your purchase") and a cancel step (e.g., "Payment cancelled—you can try again anytime") so users get clear feedback in both cases.
Summary
Funnel apps in Maniana are built by creating an app, adding and ordering steps, editing content and images with AI or the editor, setting CTAs in the builder, and optionally adding quizzes and Stripe payment steps.
